Sholden Kent Near Deal Kent. 1810-91 Norris Marsh & Berwick Family
George James Norris and his wife Charlotte, nee Halliday, lived at Alders, Sholden with their 5 children in 1891.
Miss Sarah Norrice who was living with her mother Ursula at Sholden in 1881 was George James's 2nd cousin as her father George Norris was the brother of George James's grandfather Thomas. In 1843 Sarah was christened Sarah Barwick Norris after her grandmother Sarah Barwick or Berwick who was Mrs Sarah Norris of Great mongeham.
Ursula was born in Sholden as Ursula Marsh around 1811, and married George Norris in Deal in 1831, and returned to live in the village (at Cottage place in 1841) untill her death in 1884. She had 8 children (called Norrice) born in the village between 1834-1843, namely Mary, Jane, Ester, George, Frances, Sarah (see above), John & Stephen.
Thomas Barwick, another relation of the Berwicks and Norris' above was found in Sholden in 1851. He is resident with his wife Sarah (born in the village about 1810) and their 2 children John & Eliza Jane. Not long after this, they go with his parents Joseph Barwick and Anne Graves to Australia.

RE: Sholden Kent Near Deal Kent. 1810-91 Norris Marsh & Berwick Family
I'm wanting to know about my great-great-grandfather Thomas Nailey who married my great-great-grandmother Ann Claringbold, they lived there and had my great-grandmother Rebecca who was born on 27th March 1839, but she emigrated to New Zealand and died there. I want to know all about them, where they lived, how many in her family, did they live on an estate, as apparently my great-grandfather from Elham, John Southon, was a gardener on her father's estate and they fell in love and eloped to New Zealand. There was a agriculture strike round then and people were emigrating everywhere. I have no family tree on this side so am very interested in knowing my English ancestors and bloodline... I'm a Kiwi Maori with English blood in my veins...thank you if you have any info...
