Denton School 1846
Denton School Co. Durham 1846
I have my Great, Great Grandfathers maths exercise book.
On the preface it says Jacop Graingers book
Denton School July 8th 1846.
The first half of the book is Practical Geometry with the second half
Mensuration of Superfices.
The quality of the writing and the various problems are astounding.
The Grainger family that included my mother lived at Low Walworth not far from Denton.
I can place some pictures if I can figure how.

RE: RE: Denton School 1846
David, I think this Jacob Grainger was the brother of my great-great-grandfather, Thomas Grainger, born Denton 1819. Their parents were Jacob and Jane Grainger (nee Willis). It is fascinating to hear about Jacob's maths book from Denton School. What a great family heirloom. How can I contact you re our common Grainger ancestry?

RE: RE: Denton School 1846
Hi Ruth
In reflection if your ancestor was born 1819 and is a brother to mine, the maths book may belong to a school master, the quality of writing is too good for a school boy who probably left school at 14.
If you can give me an email address I can send you some images of the book. my email address is d.k.strachan@blueyonder.co.uk
Regards
David
