Great Great Grandad Was on HMS Royal Adelaide
Amazed I've found this. My great great grandad Samuel Jeffery served on this ship as a Ward R steward (1871 Census). Seeing this ship really helps to bring history to life.

RE: RE: Great Great Grandad Was on HMS Royal Adelaide
My Great Grandfather, Henry McQuire, trained on the HMS Royal Adelaide while it was docked at Devonport in 1881(census 1881). Then he served on it again for 3 months in 1883 (Royal Navy Record).

My grandfather Robert aged 17 was on HMS 'Adelaide' in about 1881, he was second class. He was born in Shute near Axminster in Devon.
