More about this scene

The Squirrels Inn, on the corner of Squirrel Lane, is virtually unchanged - an attractive ironstone building with a thatched roof. In 1955 a Phipps and Company tied house, the brewery merged shortly afterwards with the Northampton Brewery Company to become Phipps Northampton Brewery Company. It was taken over by Watney-Mann in 1960 in part of the then massive nationwide shake-up of the brewing industry. In front is a weird Morris Eight, with timber framed shooting brake character, a veteran of the 1930s.
