USAF at East Kirkby

I was with the USAF at RAF Sturgate and was transferred to East Kirkby in Mar 1957. I worked in the personnel office and lived in the barracks that was located where the turkey farm is now. Many happy memories...the Red Lion was known as Fred's pub. After I got married to a girl from Grimsby, I lived for a while with with my wife in a small flat in the Grange at Miningsby. The Grange was owned by a guy named Morris (Maurice?) who had a bloke named George who worked for him. I bought George a pair of Levi jeans from the BX once and was he thilled. Left there in 1958 as it was closing.

RE: RE: USAF at East Kirkby

HI I currently live at Miningsby and am trying to find some information on a family who lived in Miningsby, I think it's the name of Storr (or Store), and they lived in the cottage opposite the Grange in Miningsby around about the time when you lived in the Grange. Do you have any information on them please?

RE: RE: USAF at East Kirkby

Sorry, I don't recall any of the neighbors who lived close to the Grange.

RE: RE: USAF at East Kirkby

Hi there I was with the USAF at East Kirkby From 1957 to 1959. I worked at the dinning hall as a cook, and also work in supply. I have some photos and remember a lot about the base. I have been back to the base and seen the difference. At this time I'm with the Civil Air Patrol (USAF) in Maryland. The airbase was like a family because it was small, being a black Airman I can make this statement. I have located some Airmen. I also do a little singing, I started with Norman Wright (Dell Vikings) USAF group from Ammarillo AFBASE. I would love to hear from anyone, I'm also on Facebook.

Would love to hear from you and see the photos. I recall Sam Kita was one of the mess hall people.
