Place of Birth
From just about where the photograph was taken I was born. The house was called Forge House obviously because of the Forge which my father used as a shed to house chickens in and then used as a workshop for his carpentry. He was Foreman carpenter at Tilmanstone colliery. My brother and I were both born in the house which I believe now is being used as a care home. I was 16 when that photo was taken.

RE: RE: Place of Birth
I love seeing old classic pictures. Aside from the architectural designs of the environment, you can feel the sentiment and memories together with the picture as you observe it. I would say this is a good pic.

My father-in-law's grandmother was MINNIE FLORENCE MOAT, born in Folkestone but descendant from the MOAT family of Eastry, who once lived in the old forge house. Long before your family, I once worked in the care home, taking my lunch breaks in the forge house, not then being aware of the family connection at that time. Eastry hasn't changed much, just the people living there. Regards, JOHN in Deal, Kent
