A Memory of Eldon Lane.
lovely to read claire keller story.i new her father,grandfather and great grandfather.wonderful family everyone of them.the place they walked to i can tell was grange hill farm it powers down on to eldon lane and the surrounding small villages.i lived at number 29 gurney valley a small terraced stone single storey dwelling with outside toilet and blackclocks (cockroaches) which inhabited behind the fire range impossible to get rid of them.the rear of houses everyone had long gardens all cultivated,we had chickens rabbits and two pigs one was sold and the other was killed about october time for our own use salted and hung up in the bedroom we never went hungry with home made food.i remember we had two bottles of jones pop delivered which was a weeks supply,also on a wednesday the cooperative cart came and i would get one blue riband bar that was your weeks treat.lots of stories to tell but it would take weeks(bless) eldon lane coundon grange,gurney valley,close house, bridge place,auckland park and eldon and everyone that lives and lived there. bambroseuk@googlemail.com

I recall playing football in this street and playing and exploring many areas local as old Eldon brick works area gurney valley and Bracks wood where I loved to go with school pals from Coronation school happy days Stephen Morrison
