Wiltshire memories
5 Jubilee Cottages
Born here 1942 - mother a member of the Wicks family based at Holly House (hurdle makers) father an airman stationed at RAF Hullavington. I recall land girls, the drone of planes. I was too young for school & roamed the village alone but with the family dog "bob". I recall falling in the village pond, the village shop run by Mrs Neate, having to attend chapel on Sundays, streams running across the roads, virtually no traffic, bus rides to market day at Malmesbury. I often go back - its not changed too much - still very peaceful.
Rodbourne School
We stayed in the vicarage across from the pub and I went to Rodbourne School aged 3.
I Lived at 12,Newbourne Gardens
Hi to anyone who remembers me, I lived there from !952 to 1969 and have lots of fond memories of the village and people I used to know.
May 2006
I visited this beautiful town while on vacation. The day before they were still filming 'Stardust'. There was a sale happening in a hall. I met a wonderful woman who was selling watercolor and needlework pictures. She was helping to support her sick husband. She signed my picture, it's at home but I think her name was Ann. I also had a wonderfull dinner at the pub. Can't wait to come back some day soon. Love the town, love the people.

W Redman & Sons
The van on the left of the photograph was owned by my great-grandfather Wilfred Redman who had the butcher's shop at 41 The Triangle, Westport from the early 1900's until 1945. He died in that year and his son took over the family business. Wilfred Redman came to Malmesbury in the early 1900s from Nailsworth, Glos where his mother had a stationery shop. The van was registered to Wilfred on 30 June 1936.
Granny Bishop And Grampy Bishop
The photograph shows on the left where my gran lived, in the centre is where my granddad lived, and out of sight is the house where I was born. I fell in the river many times, once when it was at full flood an old man pulled me out with his walking stick.
St John's Street
During the Second World War they put up families in the almshouses, at the end of the war they had a street party for the children almost next to the almshouses, myself and the Willis brothers were there.
