I was at this centre, and used this workshop as well as their pool, in about 1958, recovering from a broken leg. Their motto was "Waste no time!"

I was at this great place for several weeks prior to its unfortunate closure due to lack of government funds. Many people including quite a few of note were made well again at this facility. I certainly was sad to see its closure.

I have very fond memories of Farnham Rehab. centre from the early 1970s. In 3 weeks it got me fit for a Far East rugby tour after a serious knee operation by miracle Dr.Williams. Amazing rehab equipment, in particular the foot lathe and bicycle fret saw! I will never forget the separate boys' and girls' dormitories, and escapes out the window at the top of the stairs to visit the Green Man pub. And the very angry but understandng Matron as we returned just before lights out! Rick Owens and Tina - do you remember? It was a crime to shut this place! It did a lot of very good work.

RE: RE: Rehab Centre Farnham Park
I had two stints as an outpatient at Farnham Park, for three months in the autumn of 1982 and two months in the summer of 1983. Since I’m permanently disabled, there was no question of “making me well.” But the professional, dedicated and caring staff did an excellent job of making me better. The treatment I received there was superb. What I chiefly remember, though, is the camaraderie amongst the patients. That probably did me as much good as the physio and OT. The place itself was beautiful. I took long, contented, solitary walks in the grounds at lunchtime. Farnham Park was a place of peace and healing, a kind of sanctuary. I can’t imagine why it was allowed to close.
