Mrs Porrit's
Mrs Porrit's dance hall! That's a name to stir memories. Saturday nights at Mrs Porrit's, strict tempo dancing with just a spot of rock and roll, no drinking in the coverted chapel and an old black and white telly in a back room where the lads disappeared to watch wrestling.
What happened to the IN-CROWD who quickstepped, foxtrotted and waltzed until a minute to midnight, then back home to bed to think about the girl you should have chatted-up but didn't have the bottle?
Regards to all
Pete.

RE: RE: Mrs Porrit's
Mrs Porritt died on 12th January 2008 at the ripe old age of 96. Ballroom Dancing had been her life, she tried to teach the world to dance, she taught thousands of people to dance, from all walks of life. those she failed to teach, were never going to be able to dance anyway. She had a long life and right up to the end asked every day why she was not dancing. For Beatty Porritt there was only one way to dance the Right Way. A tough strict teacher, she brought the ability to dance to thousands of people and hundreds of married couples met at "Porrritts Dance Hall" in Farsley. A truly remarkable lady, she danced till she could dance no more. God bless you, Beaty Porritt.

RE: RE: Mrs Porrit's
Hello Peter,
We may have crossed paths many years ago, 1950 to 1960 even in Porritts Dance Hall.
Living near Perth WA Australia since 1970 one tends to loose touch a little.
To day I decided to waste a little more of my life surfing Facebook, never know there may be a familiar name, no luck so far, but some photos of Farsley, I lived at 43 Westway 1945 to 1960 and spent many Happy hours in Porritts, I remember that it was a church before that, yes that distraction the telly I think you meant practicing arm wrestling with the girls, not watching the telly, any way is there anyone my aguish 71 you know may also waste time on Facebook, I would particularly like to contact Wendy Gill id she is still with us, I have just posted a few memories on the memory page, you may like to comment
Should I say
Best Regards
Ron or ;=)
