Any Info?

I dont actually have a past memory of this building. I recently visited Filey and stumbled across this building in one corner of a modern caravan park. The building has just been abandoned and seemed to be empty for a while but had a strong sense of once being a busy place. Does anyone know anything about it?

RE: RE: Any Info?

In the non-PC 1970s we were told as kids that it was the 'deaf and dumb' home. I can remember a lad who worked on the camp (sadly can't remember his name) who was unable to speak. Later I recall it being used as staff accommodation. At the far end there was also the 'Gangster Bar' and disco for under 18s. It was there where us village lads were introduced to 'Northern Soul' before later 'selling our souls to punk' in those heady summers of 1977/8/9.

RE: RE: Any Info?

I spent two weeks every summer staying at PV in the sixties. I remember Linkfield but wonder if this was the building where my parents took us for a drink instead of the club on the camp site. I loved those holidays.

RE: RE: Any Info?

My parents were assistant manager/matron at Linkfield when it was the RNID Home - we spent a couple of years or so living there. I was probably about 11 years old. We used to have great fun on the roller skating rink in the garden. There was a dog that belonged to Linkfield - a white Samoyed that used to wander around the caravan site - it regularly disappeared for days...

RE: RE: Any Info?

I remember in the 1970s when this house was a deaf and dumb school there were tennis and roller skating outside. I appreciate though that this has been said it also utilised by some of the staff from the haven caravan entertainment team in the late 1990s until a couple of years ago.
