Northumberland memories

war years

I remember the army on the village green with their huts around the tank turn which is still there to-day. I have many happy memories of life in the village and how wives of soldiers came and stayed with the families who found them beds.

Pat Johnson

My memories of Pigdon are of the woods, family and fun.  My parents, my brother and myself camped there with aunties, uncles and cousins.  We always took great care to clear up after ourselves.  We had the best times playing there.  Unfortunately my parents are no longer alive, cousins have moved to other areas and one uncle has passed on too.... The Great North Road

How great was the Great North Road when it squeezed through these ancient gates until the early 1970s? Traffic built up on both sides waiting to get through. For a child this was the spot that marked where our holidays began, as it would only be another 15 miles or so to the cottage on the coast. It felt as... [more]

Found good accomodation

I think it was 1972, when I was hitchhiking north to Scotland and stranded in Alnwick late in the evening. I sat with my girlfrend at the well on a kind of marketplace thinking 'bout a place to sleep. Later a nice guy with a dog came around and talked with us. I would be interested if you have any photographs taken inside the club. I only have two photographs. I would be interested to know if you saw any bands, singers, attended... [more]

International camp school

I went to international camp school in 1974, 75 and 76. These years were my most beautifull. I was 18 and found there my first big love. A young boy called Paul coming from Newcastle. I spent there 3 times 2 weeks full of happy and silly things sharing fun with Norwegian people, French people, German people, Belgian people and... [more]
