Wo W...! I Am Amazed I Too Was Born @ This House.

A Memory of Gate Burton.

It was July 1941. I always knew it was place called Gate Burton. Only this week did I notice
on my birth certificate in very small print it states GATE BURTON HALL.
I have nothing to add to this story except, My Mothers name was Hilda Garnett married to my father John, he was killed in the war the Green Howards regiment. I would love to know more....if anyone can add to my birth story. This is a wonderful Day........Carol Garnett.

I like you have just read small print stating I was born at Gate Burton Hall my widowed birth mother being evacuated from Brixton in London. She sadly died a few months later & I was adopted. I would love to know more about my birth father who was serving in the Army at that time. Have no details except for his name a William Langford. Just to add to ths story I was traced & found out about 12 years ago I had 3 brothers! X
Didn't mention born in May 1945. My name us Carol Smith but would have been Judith Williams. Adding this to previous message. Any information gratefully accepted. Would love to visit Gate. burton Hall.
I too contacted the war office in London and received good info on my father killed in action. I shall also be visiting Gate burton in July. Congratulations on finding your 3 brothers. Go to Lincoln. Carol
My mother was evacuted from central Hull in October 1943 and I was born there. My father came to see me he caught the packet paddle steamer ferry to New Holland then the train to Gainsborough he then cycled the 4 miles to Gate Burton Hall. After a few weeks I was sent back into central Hull to brave the bombs. We lived in the Hull area until 1954 then moved to a farm near Doncaster living in georgean 10 bedroom house. Lived in that area until 1977 working at International Harvester tractor plant. 30% of the design office came from Gainsborough ex Marshall tractor employees. So in affect I moved in a big circle Gainsborough/Hull/Doncaster. I am now contacting old school friends & work mates & will ask if any were born at Gate Burton. Have only been back to Gate Burton once 2014 but never went up the drive,we are aiming to go back again soon as we live in Essex but go up on regular trips to York/Doncaster
