Doctors House And Surgery. (?)
This was where the Doctor moved to (I think) from High Street, Glanamman.
Opposite this house was 'Show Sam', a picture house (cinema these days..). I spent time in there watching films from all over the world - and the newsreels as well...
Further on - is where I would play and try to catch fish, in the river...near to the small marshalling yards, where the coal would be loaded, from several drift mines in the area.
Fascinating place for a small boy...

RE: RE: Doctors House And Surgery. (?)
I was born in Glanaman in 1931 and I remember the house very well having passed it every time I went to school. It is situated opposite the railway station where we caught the train to Ammanford Grammar and Secondary Schools. The building in fact was The Amman Hotel run by Mrs Peers the aunt of Donald Peers the singer ( By a babbling brook ..... his signature tune of the day). When Dr. Davies' surgery moved it relocated to a building behind the pub in the marshalling yard.
'Shew Sam' is on the opposite side of the road next to which was a shop where we bought sweets. On New Year's Day we as children used to travel from house to house singing our new year's greetings and received some pennies for our efforts. Sam as he was known, the owner of the cinema was on the list of all singers in the village as he always had a pot of new pennies to give to all the children calling at the door. An interesting fact was that the singing had to stop before mid-day
