My family used to travel from the countryside of Lanarkshire into Glasgow almost every weekend to visit our Granda in Carnwadric. I loved going from the centre of town out to Carnwadric in the tram and being able to 'turn' the seats for its return journey. Happy days.

Stand and wait for the number '2' bus to get me into Castlemilk but never near where I lived. Oh the thought of waiting... [more]

Sir Joseph Paxton, designer of the Crystal Palace, laid out this park on the banks of the river Kelvin. It was opened in 1853. The Art Galleries and Museum are in the grounds, and contain many Italian, Flemish, Dutch and French paintings as well as British ones. Around Glasgow Photographic Memories
This photograph shows the footbridge connecting the Botanic Gardens to the north side of the River Kelvin. The Botanic Gardens were primarily for the benefit of members of the Royal Botanic Institution of Glasgow, who established the original gardens near Sauchiehall Street, but the general public were allowed to visit on Saturdays for one shilling.
