I am 58 years old, born in Moss Side, raised in Levenshulme, and have lived in Gorton near the old tannery on Tan Yard Brow for 25 years now. I have an old film (now on DVD) of old Gorton, if anyone wants a copy email to: davidevanbroome@hotmail.co.uk or contact me on Facebook and I will send them one, looking forward to hearing from anyone.

RE: RE: Still Living in Gorton
Hi David. I was born in Gorton in 1961. I live in Sheffield now, but am very keen to learn about my past. I have seen a few photos on the internet. I would love to get hold of an old photo of the street where I used to live. I lived on Savoy Street, no 11 I think. It was a dead end and there was a factory with broken glass on top of the walls, I don't know what the factory made. There were a few houses round the corner with gardens. We only had yards. I remember a girl called Karen Ennicker (not sure about that spelling). A big Irish family opposite. My gran lived a bit further up but across the road (Alice Quigley). My mum's name was Alice too. There was a man lived a few doors away from my gran called Mr Boygle (spelling!), he was a brilliant painter. He was about my gran's age. I went to Thomas Street school, and remember the walk down Margaret Street to get there. If I was lucky I got a Kit Kat on the way! I remember Celia, who had a corner shop on Margaret Street, and Lenardo's who made the most awesome pies. I would love a copy of your DVD if possible or info about where I could buy one. Regards, Carolyn. e mail: sweetfunnyvalentine@hotmail.co.uk - Itried to e mail you direct David but couldn't find that address. C.
