Great Haywood
My name was Mackin when I lived in Great Haywood in the 197'0s. We lived in Elm Close for over 5years. When I began to look through the photographs in the Frith Collection and saw the one above, it brought back memories that the actual building shown was a Butchers. I loved living in that area, I used to walk my two Red Setters down by the canal and the river along side Shugborough Hall. Due to personal circumstances I then moved to Bournemouth and now live in Australia. I came to know about the Francis Frith Collection through the magazine "The Best of British" which my husband and I have delivered to Australia every month.

RE: RE: Great Haywood
I moved up to Hixon 3 years ago from Harrow near London. I'd never heard of Hixon until I was looking for a property near Stafford, and what a beautiful part of the world it is, so much better than London. When I told my mother I was moving to Hixon she told me that she used to live here for a short time when she was about 3 years old with her aunt and cousin Eva at Rose Cottage. Can anyone tell me where Rose Cottage was or still is in Hixon as my mother can't remember, being so young in 1926, can anyone help? And would anyone remember the family who used to live there at that time? Please can you help?

Update: 24.12.11 I have just realised upon looking at the photograph again that this building was actually the Post Office when I lived there not the Butchers. The Butchers would have been virtually opposite Elm Close.
