GOING FOR WALKS AND SWINGS IN THE BIG GARDENS
I was at Pilgrims Wood, Sandy Lane, Guildford, Surrey, in years from 1959-1965, with, my two siblings.
I remember having to attend the church at Littleton, and I also remember having to go for walks in the woods. One day when I was older some other children and I were allowed to go on our own and we got lost and could not find the way back I often laugh at this.
I really loved the countryside out there and walking up Sandy Lane in pitch darkness.
My stay was not too bad at this home.

RE: RE: GOING FOR WALKS AND SWINGS IN THE BIG GARDENS
We were there at the same time, wow, the secret camp in the gardens, Sunday walks to the church in your best sandles, the only day you were allowed to wear your watch, pocket money to spend in the shop down the end of Sandy Lane, trying to find the secret passage through the loft to escape (I got the cane off the matron for that one), holiday to Clifftonville. I was there with my two sisters, I was about 10-12 ish. How old were you when you were in there?

RE: RE: GOING FOR WALKS AND SWINGS IN THE BIG GARDENS
Hi Raymond What a surprise, I arrived at Pilgrim Wood with my brother Francis and I was aged 6 years old and later on we were joined by our other brother Peter about 2-3 years later. I left Pilgrim Wood at the age of 12 years, when Francis was 11 years old, we had to move to another home as Pilgrim Wood only took boys up to the age of 11 years as far as I can remember. I have a photo of you with my brother in the sea, it's on Facebook, my brother Francis is on there too. I was trying to place who it was in the photo and it is you and I remember you well and so does Francis. Francis has some photos on Facebook and a list of children that he and I can both remember at Pilgrim Wood. I cannot remember your 2 sisters, what are their names? I hated Matron. I tried very hard to get my records of when I was in the homes without success, did you ever try to get yours at all? The second home we were in was Broomfield, 84 Epsom Road, Guildford, Surrey, and I left there in 1968 at the age of 15 years old, also photos of this home on Facebook too. Hope life has treated you well. I don't live down the South of England, I moved away many years ago, but my 2 brothers still live down there. I remember everything that you have written on the above camps, sweet shop etc.. Best Wishes Rosemary
