My parents Evelyn Pratt and Tom Williams were married at the Parish Church, Hall Green on 15 Sep 1934
Richardson's in Cole Valley Road
Does anyone remember Elsie Richardson who at 1973 lived at 150 Cole Valley Road Hall Green? She was a widow, and her husband Harry Richardson I never met, but I have a beautiful heirloom from Elsie which belonged to Harry. Elsie lived there until her death in the 1980s. She was a 'Starkey' before marriage, sister to my grandmother.

Any Memories of Maggie Williams?
I am trying to trace my family tree. Does anyone remenber Maggie (Margaret) Williams, who was married to Joe and had three children (Mary, Margaret and Ron)? She lived in Beauchamp Road and went to the local Catholic church. I would love to hear any reminiscences about my grandmother and grandfather.
Born at Home in School Road Yardley Wood 1954
Born into a large family one of eventually, 8 children, I can remember helping to pick and shell peas in our very large rear garden, we grew a lot of vegetables then and I enjoyed swinging and climbing on our many apple trees; we kept pigeons and rabbits, and also one chicken called Sheila (named after my eldest brother's girlfriend). Eventually our garden was divided into two, the first half becoming a bowling green, and we spent many hours playing bowls to amuse ourselves. I used to enjoy the visit from the rag and bone man and his carthorse Dolly, for a few rags we could have a Willow Pattern plate or even a gold fish!
School Road Nursery
I am researching my family and was wondering if anyone knew of the School Road Nursery at Yardley Wood. I have recently been given an old family photo which was sent to Mrs A Horton, at that address. I think the photo dates back to around 1930-1932, and was wondering if anyone knew of any Horton family who lived in the area. I live in Perth, Western Australia and hope to hear from you. Growing up on Tyseley Lane
In 1960 I was 5 years old and lived in Tyseley Lane with my older brother, mom and dad and also gran and great-gran. My grandad had died the previous year and I often wonder if his shed still stands at the bottom of the garden! Around this time I recall sitting in the bay window, helping my mom with her rag-rug making, when 2 fire engines arrived outside and the firemen jumped out and ran down the side of our house to the back garden. We rushed out and discovered that a hoax call had been made to say our shed was on fire! I also remember... Read more
Rag & Bone Man
We lived at 1, Northanger Road, which was at right angles to Olton Boulevard East and we have had views down both directions of the Boulevard. I remember the regular visits of the rag and bone man. Cars were becoming common-place, but a horse and cart seemed very old fashioned. The horse manure was soon collected up by the keen gardeners in the area. It was a good way of getting rid of the unwanted articles, as the rag and bone man seemed to take all we gave him.
