Creeks Mill
My grandmother Alice Weaver lived in an old tumbldown cottage at Creeks Mill. She was a widow, and married my grandad George Wylde around 1900. My dad was born in 1903. They moved to Top House on the Highwood. The Creeks Mill house was left to ruin. As a child, I went with my mum and aunty to pick the primroses, violets, blackberries and rosehips that grew round the old house. There was a little stream with a waterfall and a very rickety bridge over to the house. I have an old black and white photo of the house and my grandma.

RE: RE: Creeks Mill
I remember Joy Wilde. My grandparents Arthur and Polly Kennett lived at Cookley the next house down the lane at Highwood. We went to Highwood school which I understand is now a private house.
I had lived in Altrincham, Cheshire and attended a town school so it was a real novelty to me to go to this tiny village school where most of the pupils were transported to it by bus. We all knew about the war where I lived and it was lovely to get away from the horrors of bombs dropping.
I remember the fruit trees and there was a nut tree on the land - it was so wonderful and I have such happy memories of my childhood at different places round the Tenbury area. My mother going fruit picking and then hop picking - what lovely experiences.
I also remember going on Bill's bus. Oh, those were the days!

Hi Margaret,
I remember you too. Do you also remember Enid Heming my cousin? I loved it so much on the Highwood and was sorry to leave. I now live in rural France in an area very similar and its so like the 1940s and 1950s era. I went back to the Highwood earlier this year and was so disappointed. The townies have bought the houses and don't know how to look after the land so its all overgrown and looks a mess. My dad would turn in his grave if he saw it now.
The field family, not Bill of course, live next door to my brother Ron at Eastham. My older brother Derrick died 4 years ago. Yes those were the days.
