Harrisons Newsagents
Just wondered if anyone remembers 'Harrisons Newsagents' based at 92 The Stow. My father opened this shop in December 1953, and it was for many years run by a manager - Mr Wood (Bert). The shop was sold in November 1980 and I believe that it now operates as a bridal wear shop. Any memories would be much appreciated. John Harrison

RE: RE: Harrisons Newsagents
I remember Harrisons shop in the Stow very well. I think my mates and I spent hours in there when I was a kid. I remember a Mr Woods, the manager I believe, he used to have a sports car parked at the back of the shop, maybe an Austin Healey.

Thanks for the memory Michael.
I mentioned that to my father (nearly 80 now !) and it made him laugh - he said he hoped Mr Wood wasn't being paid well enough to buy an Austin Healy.
My father was a car fanatic in those days and reckons it was more likely to be his own - best guess an AC Aceca.
Best wishes,
John Harrison

Yes, I remember Harrisons newsagents, I used to be a paper boy there for a couple of years as a teenager.
