Haslingden Swimming Pool

Myself and my school mates from Helmshore Primary School spent hours of time at the baths in Haslingden, my friend Christopher Row was one in particular. I also would like to know if anyone knows a Carol Ashton or Lynn Ashton, OR June Peddie or Dave Peddie. We all went to primary school in Helmshore. I moved to America in May 1965. Peter Chadderton

RE: RE: Haslingden Swimming Pool

I remember the swimming baths. I used to go there a lot. I was madly in love with the swimming instructor, I can't remember his name so it couldn't have been that bad.

RE: RE: Haslingden Swimming Pool

My mum used to work at Hassy baths. Mr Maddocks was the big boss in those days and was a fiery chap. He took the takings to the bank every night in a brown leather case. The slipper baths were my favourite as my mum used to fill them up to the top for us. I used to go to the baths 3 times a day sometimes, morning before school, dinner time, and on the way home from school. Great having a mum working at the baths eh? She was called Joyce Payne and worked with a lady called Nellie Barker. George who also worked on the pool is still alive although very poorly at the moment. Happy innocent days when the sun shone every day I'm sure!!
