The Heyes, Haydock

My great-grandfather was a gardener at The Heyes in Haydock, from the early 1900s up to his death in 1919. He and his family lived at Heyes Cottages. My grandfather grew up there. I am trying to find out more about The Heyes and who lived there when my great grandfather worked there. Does anyone know anything about the place or know where I can find out more?

RE: RE: The Heyes, Haydock

Hi, the person who lived at the Heyes was Richard Evans, he owned most of the colleries in the area. I may have a photo of him somewhere. I hope this helps. Regards, Eric

RE: RE: The Heyes, Haydock

Richard Evans died in 1863 and left the mining company to his sons, who were responsible for its growth. His son, Josiah, lived in The Heyes, although many years before your grandfather worked there.
