Dorset memories
I grew up here, a tiny hamlet underneath Bulbarrow Hill. My grandfather and father are buried in the churchyard. My mother still lives here and is a great stalwart of this tiny community.

My mother Patricia Bingham visited Bingham's Melcombe probably in the 1950's and told me, her daughter, that the house was derelict and the hall was being used as a hayshed! In the afternoon we had a parade of fancy dress and walked to the recreation field where a fete was... [more]

Extracts From Hazelbury Bryan & Dorset books
Displaying a selection of extracts from Frith books about Hazelbury Bryan, inspired by Frith photos.
This village sprawls around the lanes of the surrounding countryside of the Blackmoor Vale as though not quite sure where it wants to be. The hilltop church dates back to at least the 14th century, and some of the cottages are of similar antiquity.

Dorset Revisited Photographic Memories
Hazelbury Bryan features in Thomas Hardy's writings as Nuttlebury. The poet and novelist would still recognise this relatively unchanged pastoral landscape.
