My Great Grandmother
It's not a memory of mine but, she was my great grandmother and I am not sure of her first name although I know her surname was Powell. She was a mother to grandad, who's life so tragically ended, she died in a fire, a caravan fire, in Hengoed. I would like to know about her, and would like even to know her name and where she is buried.
I believe that everyone should be remembered and I think that I am the only one who wants to remember.

RE: RE: My Great Grandmother
Hi Tammy,
I just found this site today and saw your memory. I was born in Ystrad Mynach and went to live in Cefn Hengoed when I was 5 years old.
It's really sad about your Great Grandmother!
I'm doing my family tree and if you want I could look up your family in the Census records. I would need more info such as your Grandads full name and date of birth. The only other thing I could suggest is to contact the local history group in Hengoed or Ystrad perhaps through the library. There used to be a library in Ystrad I know.
Anyway I wish you luck and let me know if you want my help,
Cathy

RE: RE: My Great Grandmother
Is your grandather Henry Powell? My father is Harold Powell, (passed away now) Henry's mother is my father's sister. And when Henry's mam died in a caravan fire my father's mother adopted him. You should know me, Brian Sharpe's mother. Hope you get in touch soon.
