Heswall Childrens Hospital
I was transferred from Myrtle Street to Heswall in 1953 as a TB contact, I was in a few wards. One faced the main entrance to the Hospital, another one had a partition across the middle separating the girls from the boys. The ward I remember most was one with a television, I watched the Queen's coronation and the Mathews cup final. The television was to the right of the door as you went into the ward. There was a lad named Arthur who was terrified of flies, if that rings a bell with anyone. Another lad Eddie was given a carpentry set one Saturday for his birthday, when all the visitors had gone he tried his saw out on the table leg, which to six year olds looked about 20 foot long and probably was.
