I Was There Too!

Childrens Hospital c1965

As a student nurse in 1969 I started my career at Heswall on Lady Jones ward. This was a ward for children with severe mental and physical disabilities and Sister Clarke ran the show.
It was such a fabulous time and as a young nurse I have memories of the night warden who managed switchboard, cursing and swearing at us when we arrived home late and without a pass out. It was such a pretty little hospital and yes we use to take the children out into the grounds in huge prams and play on the boat and the fire engine. Such sunny days!!
