The Puddydale School

Childrens Hospital c1965

Oh yes I remember the Hospital but also the School in the Puddydale opposite. I attended that school from 1949 - 1955 and have lots of fond memories of the teachers and the friends that I knew. The 'Puddydale' was a huge parklike area where games were played and pagents held.
Both the school and the hospital are long gone but that was part of the Heswall that I knew. Pete B

RE: RE: The Puddydale School

I remember both the Puddydale school and the Royal Liverpool Childrens' Hospital with affection. I attended the Puddydale from 1952 until 1956. I remember a teacher called Miss Nichols (later Mrs Williams) who put on a show one summer, where we all had to perform on roller skates - as they were in fashion at the time. I was a Tin Soldier and had to march down the sloping playground - no mean feat! In the grounds at the rear of the hospital was a play area for the children. A couple of my mates and I, around 1964/1965, converted an old ship's lifeboat into a "pirate ship" using timber, plywood and paint donated by local firms. The Matron took a shine to us and invited us to have a free evening meal with her in the Nurses Dining Room. Lots of flirting and not much eating!

I started at Puddydale School in 1944. Anyone alive from that intake?

RE: RE: The Puddydale School

Does anyone have photographs of the school pupils between 1946 and 1952?

RE: RE: The Puddydale School

Sorry Doreen, I wish I had some old photos. My sister Carol may have some that were my mother's.
