Horden Memories
Hi, my name is Lorraine, my surname was Humphreys at the time I spent my early childhood in Horden with my nana and grandad, both sadly gone now. I lived at 90 Seventh Street, I went to school on the top road we used to call 'the tin tops'. The girls I remember were Lesley Barron, Lisa Edwards, Linda Huntingdon to name a few. I later moved to Braemar Terrace. My memories of Seventh Street and living with my nana, I used to love the jazz bands, Peterlee Blue Stars, and holidays down to Crimdon were the best. I left the north east to live with my dad who had remarried after the death of mum in 1968, Margaret Harland, she was 24. We moved to Berlin in1974. I went back to Horden in 2009 for the funeral of my nana, Gladys Humphreys, it was at the Welfare Hall on Seventh Street. I used to play in the park with the big clock. Seems a lifetime ago.

RE: RE: Horden Memories
Hi Lorraine We lived next door to your grandparents in Seventh Street in 1966. My name was Seed before getting married to Joe Bell, he was from Easington. On the other side of us was Mr and Mrs Chicken. I remember your grandparents when they had the fish shop, they wrere the best chips around. I can remember young David and Danny, but I can't remember the older brother who was in the Forces. When my mam was alive she was good friends with your granma. Well, just thought I would take a few minutes to respond to show that people still remember your grandparents who were very highly thought of in Horden.

RE: RE: Horden Memories
Hello again Lorraine Just a memory I had when I lived next door to your Nan. I was expecting my second child when a knock came on my front door. It was the police to say my dad had been in an accident, my husband was at work and your Nan offered to watch my daughter who was 4 at the time. Your dad took me to 3rd Street in his army jeep. I never got to thank him, so will you please pass on my sincere thanks for me Many regards Carol
