8th Hornchurch Scouts

I will always have fond memories of the Dell as our scout hut was located there. Also I lived a few minutes walk away at Ravenscourt Grove. I moved there in 1948. The Dell was a boy's dream place to play in.

RE: RE: 8th Hornchurch Scouts

Hello David
Yes the Dell was marvellous and we went sledging there with my dad when it snowed in 1947 when we were young children and I remember running and running down one of the slopes. We also walked through it on our way to St Andrew's church. We used to stop in the churchyard and collect discarded flowers and give a posy to our mother, never understanding why she was less than delighted. For boys who perhaps had more freedom to roam The Dell must have been paradise! Happy memories!
Elizabeth (nee Wilton)

PS I too lived at no 72 Ravenscourt Grove and went to Suttons!
