Coxon/Halford Familys

Hi Elaine, Hope you're the one who put rollers in my dad's hair. Your uncle Jack and aunt Edna, remember nana Rosie. If you are, please reply.

Chorlton Tech

Hi, I'm trying to get in touch with Grace Lee - she went to Chorlton Tech which then became Wilbraham Heigh school from 1964/1968. She lived on Clarenden Rd, Moss side. It would be good to be in touch with anyone who attended at that time.

Upper Moss Lane

I was born in 1952 and live firstly in Moss Side & we had a greengrocer's lock-up near the Junction pub. We then moved to Upper Moss Lane where we had a greengrocer's with our house behind - right next to the petrol station. I went to Mulberry Street school before passing my 11+ I then went to Central Grammar School for girls in Manchester.
They were fun times & I loved working in the shop when I was old enough to - even providing the artwork on the brown carrier bags we sold.
We moved from Hulme when the area was bought under a compulsory purchase order.

Trafford Park

I have just been looking at some comments, I was brought up in Trafford Park from 1952 when I was born and until 1966 when my parents andIi moved to Australia. I went to Trafford Park Primary School and at that time the Headmaster was Mr Organ. I have been looking at some old photos and I have been told that where I lived is no longer which sorta shatters your memories, my address back then was 810 Eight Street just across from the park that was there, and I have fond memories of Sid who used to be the park caretaker. I wonder if there is anyone alive that still knows me, I would love to get in contact with them again.

"Princess Street/Platt Fields"

I lived with my mother and grandad in Princess Street, Rusholme and went to Holy Trinity Infant School. We used to play in Platt Fields which was only at the bottom of our street. My friends were Alma Lynch, Ann Collins, who had three brothers. We had two corner shops and "Lens Greengrocers". I used to be a "Paper Girl" from the newsagents in Walmer Street, next door to the "chippy". The church I also attended was the "McLaren Memorial People's Institute". I went on to attend Claremont Road Secondary School for Girls almost next door to the City Ground "Maine Road". I am still in touch with Alma, but other friends have disappeared - is there anyone out there who remembers me ? We were very poor but turned out well I think. Been married for 48years now and have two sons and four grandchildren.

Hulme

I was born in the street where Pauldins was on the corner. Higher Chatham Street in 1955. I don't remember it but the family used to talk about it burning down because my grandparents owned the Salutation Pub at the time and it had to be hosed down in case it was burnt as well. The Salutation is still standing. I used to watch all the students going down the street to the Dental Hospital.

I Remember...

I remember Paulden's Store on Oxford Road burning down. I was with my gradma Nellie Flanagan and we were horrified. I am not sure of the exact date but it was in the 1950s.

Saw A Reference on Here to The Bowcock Family of Hulme.

My aunty Hilda was a Bowcock from Hulme before she married my Uncle Jimmy Flanagan. Wonder if she was related to the Bowcocks mentioned on this site. Sadly she has long since passed away but I am guessing she was a relative.
