RE: RE: Sally Lunn Restaurant, Cranbrook Road
I remember the Sally Lunn's restaurant, we lived in Dagenham but my mum always took me to Ilford every Saturday so she could go in C & A and Wests and we used to have our lunch in there every Saturday, my favorite was the jelly and ice cream. I went back to Ilford 2 years ago and was shocked how it is now, I didn't reconise it at all and actually got lost which surprised me because in my teenage years we were always in Ilford, especially the Ilford Palais which was later named Tiffany's.

My mum tells me my father, Gordon Day used to eat in Sally Lunn's a lot in the 1950s and 1960s. He owned Days Salads in Pioneer Market from 1949 until 1975. The sirloin steak with the famous crinkle chips was his favourite.
