George Lynns Grocers
My dad, Maurice Marsden, started work at the age of 14 in Lynns shop in 1937, after serving in the RAF and Fleet Air Arm during the war. He returned to the shop to work and finished up as manager. The shop closed in the 70s.

Hello Graham. Firstly, apologies for my very late acknowledgement of your reply. I have just signed in and found your message Secondly, many thanks to your mum for her recollection Yes, I did recently learn that there was a son (born 1947 ) who died that same year. I had been unable to determine whether baby Robert had died at birth or not. Your mum's recollection of the father (Scots-born Walter Urquhart), possibly having been employed on a farm, sounds likely to be true. My Uncle Walter had come originally from a farming background in Scotland, after which he joined the Leicester City Police. His police service was brief because the Second World War intervened and Walter Urquhart was called up to serve in the British Army. Once again thanks to you and your mum. Any further recollections will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ray Urquhart, New Zealand rayrobt@hotmail.com

Hello , again OOOps In my previous message , just sent , I typed a year of birth and death as 1947. The year should have read 1949 Robert A. Urquhart was born in the first quarter of 1949 Your Mum's memory is faultless. I stand corrected Ray
