Machine Gunning In Daylight At Saltend In The Second World War
A Memory of Kingston upon Hull.
I lived in Marfleet during the Second World War. One afternoon we heard a machine gun from the direction of Saltend. Not long after, a column of smoke arose. It was said at the time that a 2-man Heinkel float plane had landed in the Humber opposite Saltend and had machine-gunned the works and fractured a pip line. Can anyone remember this?
