A Lovely Village Where Time Has Stood Still
I recently visited Kirdford with my mother to try and trace family history. My mother is a Pullen and all her ancestors originated from Kirdford, we visited the graveyard and lo and behold found some Pullen graves. We also visited a few of the houses mentioned in census returns where Pullens had lived. It would have been nice to talk to some older members of the community who maybe had a tale or two to tell. However the village was peaceful and when asking in the local shop we were told that they were new to the village and could not help. Anyway a lovely village where time has definitely stood still.

RE: RE: A Lovely Village Where Time Has Stood Still
I am visiting Kirdford later this year to visit and find a Pullen ancestor. Please get in touch so that I can get some helpful hints.

RE: RE: A Lovely Village Where Time Has Stood Still
Whilst I haven't actually lived in Kirdford itself, I do have family connections from the village, including a Pullen in my family tree. Samuel Pullen (a widower) from Kirdford married my great-great-great-grandmother Eliza Ford in East Preston in 1831. She had also, it would seem (?) been married before. After their marriage, they moved to the Wisborough Green and Kirdford area, and, as far as I know, remained there for the rest of their lives.
If anyone has a family tree which includes Samuel Pullen, then I would be pleased to hear about it!

I also have not lived in Kirdford, however I am tracing my husband's ancestry which also includes the Pullen line. His grandmother was Elsie Mary Pullen (who emigrated to Canada in 1946). She was the daughter of Annie Elizabeth Pullen (of Horsham). Annie was the daughter of William Pullen and Cordelia Elliott. William Pullen was born in Kirdford in 1834, and married Mary Vanns in 1864. William's parents were John Pullen b.1801 in Kirdford and his wife Elizabeth. If anyone can connect to these lines I would love to hear from you. Tracy
