More about this scene

It was from inns and taverns along here that coaches used to arrive and depart. From the Bay Horse there was a coach to Selby; from the Elephant & Castle there was one to Thirsk, Leeds, York and Harrogate. From the Black Swan, a wagon ran every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to York.

A Selection of Memories from Knaresborough

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Knaresborough

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Ye Olde Feathers Hotel, sadly no longer there. It will always have a special place in my heart.
I am seeking Jean Diane Burgoyne born on 5th September 1962 in Catterick, North Yorkshire - adopted in Knaresborough.
