Lingerbay, Growing up

I was brought up in Lingerbay in a house that I believe was built by my grandfather in 1926. The family are still in that house and there have been many changes to it over the years. There in the family home were eight children - four girls, four boys. And, from my own recollections a happy childhood was had by all.

RE: RE: Lingerbay, Growing up

My grandfather was Angus Macdonald and his mother's name was Catharine Macdonald, his birth certificate states he was born in North Uist and was from the Isle of Baleshare. He was born on April 17th 1868 and I have had many problems tracking him down. As you can imagine, everyone was called Angus. I wonder if you would know how I can find out more about my ancestors? He left Scotland, met his future wife on the passage out to Australia and eventually settled in Dunedin in New Zealand. He is buried in Andersons Bay cemetery overlooking the sea, along with his wife (my grandmother on my mother's side), Catherine Macdonald (nee Carroll) from Ireland. He does not have the name of his father on his birth certifcate which could mean his mother was not married at the time. Any information would be much appreciated if you can. Many thanks Sharon E Hart (nee McNally)
