Ystrad Hall
I was a member of Ystrad Hall also - I don't remember you Billy Crawford, what year was you there? Llangollen was a great place, I believe there was a lot of child molesting going on that's why you don't hear much about this strange place - It turned out to be a cash cow for the likes of Dick and the Rat ...

I too was a member at Ystrad Hall, and I also remember you, Jimmy Pike. You might not remember me so well as I was a young kid when you were getting ready to leave, you used to move around with Vincent. I don't remember Billy Crawford, but that's not surprising as it's been over 30 years. I was there from 1976/77 to 1981 and from south London, the same manor as Vincent. Oh, Chris Eubanks was there when I was there.

I was at Ystrad Hall from 1973-1976 then went to Westminister House in Hoole, Chester. Had some gud times at Ystrad Hall but some times were really bad. I hope everybody has moved on, it would be nice to see everybody again.

Hi, does anyone remember Dave Tiniswood from Berwyn, a big bully to a lot of the kids?

RE: RE: Ystrad Hall
I was in Berwyn College 1981/84, came with nothing and left with nothing, stranded in Wales. It was like a prison, some staff were the cleaners and the so called teachers for our education sorry did I say education...... some good times though, I remember pinching the cook's moped and racing round the grounds with everyone laughing with the staff, or bullies as I remember them being, and Alvin and Dave Tiniswood chasing me. I really am glad to see that you all are ok, a judge had said that it was the strong-willed that would survive the care system in Wales in the 1970/80s, I'm happy you all did.

Hi to all of you. Hey Kenty, yo u punched me in the arm 40 odd times, I remember you, I remember 152 names, the staff were bad but Max was ok though. Well, I moved to London, sold burgers in Tottenham Court Road, then markets, Covent Garden, Portobello and Camden, later into fasion with Vivienne Westwood ect. Moved to Japan, got married, happy now aged 50. Struggled until 27 years. Hey Jimmy Pyke, Granada reports, no help never gave us that tenner. Well good luck to all of you, shed no tears, it just delays. Missed you all a lot. Wayne New.

When I read the comments that have been left here, I see all the faces I used to know, and remember the names that came into my life long ago. I feel someone should pay for what happened to all of us, but as before, who do we turn to get the help we must all need. I can understand why a number of our friends have chosen suicide for their anger and despair they must have felt was to much to handle and having no one to turn to, chose to end the pain in this way. Me, I'm lucky, someone once said "If I landed in shit I would come out smelling of roses". Well Ystrad hall was the s""t, And the girl I met when I was there was the roses, and some 30 odd years later, still with the woman I met all those years ago, I look round and see my youngest son playing on the computer, my daughter doing her studies, my eldest son going to work. I know I must drop this anger I feel inside, and carry on the struggle of life. God bless you all, and good luck. Your friend for ever Micky Pearman.

Sparks of rebellion quelled in a stroke,
Flashes of smiles wiped from our souls,
Ystrad has gone now the memories fade,
But never quite vanish they're tattooed inside.

PRIVATE HELL My life feels so lonely, I live in a shell, it's the safest place, my private hell. I can't help myself, so what good am I, at giving advice, I'm a joke, I'm a lie. Take off my mask, what do you see, not a happy face, just a sad me. Leave me alone in my private hell, I've got to be punished I'm a failure as well. I'm so full of hatred, anger and hurt, my best friend's a bottle, the only one I trust. Won't someone listen just try to read my mind, truth is don't bother, your all one of a kind. So leave me alone to crawl back inside my shell, and I'll live my life in my private hell.

RE: RE: Ystrad Hall
I was at Ystrad 1981 to 1984, I'm female, when it then turned into a girls' home for a few years and then boys came back and then it shut down. I hated it at the time coming from south London and aged 11, being stuck in the middle of hills freaked me out. My social worker tricked me into going, she said we were just going to "look" at it and then when we got there she just said bye and left. I was 11 with no belongings, in the middle of nowhere, and was really scared. There were only a couple of dodgy staff, but we were just cash cows for that man that owned all of those homes, he made so much money out of our young lives. I got no education there, it was like an open prison for kids really.

Mel...guess what I was tricked like you - I was supposedly going to tour the place from a place called the Hollies in Sidcup, Kent - They done the same to me, they left me at Ystrad for two weeks... which ended up being 5-6 yrs...Go Figure! My funniest time was when Mark Atkins tried to ride Tiny Ystrad's horse - It was so funny + the time Meriom Jones (warden) caught us raiding the kithchen one night -- IT WAS ME, VINTON, KENTY AND CHALLY so funny.

75/77 YSTRAD HALL, more like YSTRAD HELL. Hi all you guys and girls who had the misfortune to land in this hell hole. Hope you were able to pick up the pieces when you got out of there. Only guy I know who had an education when he left was Chris Ubank, and that was how to fight. Chris Williams staff), I hope all the kids (blokes now) you slapped about and abused get you one day. I for one will be in the line. I remember how you and a number of others beat me up in your office on a number of occasions, we were just kids, shame on you. Still brings tears to my eyes. You may have got away with it in that jumped up court, but we know the truth. Anyway enough of that, hope you kids are all well because that's how I remember you all. I would love to see you all again. Regards, Mick Pearman.

RE: RE: Ystrad Hall
I've had some bad times in my life, but the worst two years of my life was in that 'hell hole'. It seems to me, some of you had a great time there, you were the lucky ones. Yes, some of the staff were b------s, but I can say the same about some of the kids in there as well. These cowardly bullies and sexual beasts, made my life hell. If any of you read this (you know who you are..shame on you). How would you like your kids to go through what some had to? A life of alcohol, drug abuse, prison, mental hospitals, and a rubbish existance, for many a year. Luckily, I'm just coming to terms with it all now. You hurt me, but didn't beat me completely - 'No Surrender'. I'm not giving my name at this time, because I'm embarrased and ashamed I let this happen to me. Cheers to the goodens.
