Llangwynadl Happy Holidays

I was 5 or 6 years old the first time my Grandmother took me to Llangwynadl, we stayed at Glany Mor right at the end of the lane. The following year we went again but stayed at the pink cottage owned by Mr & Mrs Jones, Mr Jones was the postman. I remember he only had one arm. My gran became very friendly with a lot of people in Llangwynadl so we had our holidays there twice a year for many years, I think I was about 15 the last time I went there. I seem to remember Gran having fresh fish, crabs mussels and mackeral given to her often, she called him Captain Morgan, I am not sure if this was his real name, he kept his boat down at Glany Mor. I spent a lot of my time with the Roberts family on their farm, they had a son and three daughters, I remember the youngest daughter was called Sally, they were a lovely family and I spent many happy hours on their farm, hay making was a wonderful time and they also churned milk to make the butter. I was always there helping. Every day I walked up to the post office owned by the Owens to collect fresh crusty bread, then to the Jones's farm for the milk. A trip every Wednesday to Pwllheli, it was market day, also regular trips to the whistling sands at Morfa Nefyn and Aberdaron, such a lovely quaint place. This year (2011), seventy years on, my daughter, granddaughter and myself are visiting north Wales and I hope to revisit my happy chilhood haunts in Llangwynadl, maybe even look up a cousin who now lives there, he like myself loved the place. It is such a great pity that the young children today cannot enjoy the pleasures I did on the farms, we had very little in those days to occupy ourselves with, but Llangwynadl provided me with many many happy days and lots of fun, I was always happy there. The beach was my favourite place, we would often spend all day there taking our picnic with us, I still think it was one of the nicest beaches I have been to. Llangwynadl my favourite place in Wales.
