The Magic Of Angmering On Sea Holidays In The 60's

A Memory of Angmering.

My family had wonderful holidays at my aunts house called 'silba' in Golden Acre near the beach. My two brothers, sister and Mum and Dad spent such happy holidays here. We spent most of our days on the beach. aunty had a beach hut where we could boil a kettle for tea which we had in bendy plastic cups. Before lunch Mum would go up to the house and bring back salad, tomatoes and bread and butter in a black picnic case. It always tasted extra special.
There was a kiosk near the beach where you could buy ice cream from big tins, my favourite was coffee which had bits of ice in it you could crunch! When my cousins came from Rustington there would often be about 12 to 14 of us. My aunty from rustington would organise games where we might go off to find 10 different items and the first one back got a sweet or a penny. They were such happy days full of sunshine. My aunt was Enid Seabrook and mum and dad were John and Beryl Camp. Anyone remember us?
