February was a very sad time for all my family. There was a light at the end of a very sad day.
My youngest son took me to Wednesbury, Old Park Rd, Dudley, and my home 5 Wells Rd.

I used to visit two ladies in Bradley during the war years,Arvind and Bessie Walker.
Bessie taught me at Stonefield junior school and always rode a bicycle to school.When I visited her home she used to take me on the back of her bike.As a treat in the days of rationing she used to feed me mock crab sandwiches which were actually a mixture of dried egg and chopped tomato! My maternal grandfather, Thomas Mottram, owned The Hop Pole pub on Market Street - sold it in 1924. My paternal great grandfather, A E Webb, started a haulage company, centred at a house called Mendham, on Wolverhampton Street, which became Webb Bros. Any body remember these? My Aunt, Hilda Mottram was a primary school headmistress - not sure which one.
My Grandfather grew up in Hall Green street next to his Aunt, Uncle and 2 cousins, who later ran a grocery shop together down there. Irene and Olive Eliza Roberts, 49 & 50 Hall Green Street. Does anyone have any memories of them or their shop? Also does anyone have any memories of going to Sunday school at Bradley Methodist Church, down the road? In 1920 my fathers mother and father married. at the time they lived in15 Martins building Lower Bradley. I think I have that right. I am reading it from a copy of their marriage certificate and the script is not that clear. My grandfathers name was Lewis Thomas and my granny was Annie nock. Does anyone have any memoirs of this address? Would love to hear them.
I loved my school days at Stonefield School.when it was girls.then boys arrived and that made a lot of difference,fun none the less.
I can still remember the school song that we had to learn when we first started.in fact I often sing it to myself.i know the anthem of our school better than the national anthem.i have found a place called Bradley archives its brilliant and it had some pictures of my school it's amazing how happy it made me.
We were married at St Leonard`s church on a cold day, Saturday February 28th. We both had flu that week but managed to get to the church on time, that was 56 years ago now living in Melbourne Australia where it is a little warmer.
Hickman Park bring back memories of the flower show which took place in August with large marquees full of floral displays. There was show jumping in the centre of the park. There were concrete steps here which I managed to fall down and knock my front teeth out. On a lighter note I had my wedding photos taken here in July 1979 as I was married at All Saints Moxley which has no outside space.
My mom and dad were married at St Leonards, in the late thirties - myself and my brother were christened there. My brother and I, were born at 81 Moseley Road .My brother and I, had many a good time playing behind the houses opposite. In those days we had real summers. Many years ago, about 1951, us children myself and my brothers and our friends used to play on the fields where now Bilston Colledge is situated off the Wellington Roa in Bilston. We had such fun playing on those fields, running up and down the bonks, as us Bilstonians would say, and also jumping the rusty brook.
