The Queens Bars In Cleveleys

A Memory of Blackpool.

I was a part of a double cabaret act in the 60's. My then husband and I were Ricky and Jackie Day...we both sang and played guitars. We were resident at the Queens Bars in Cleveleys for summer seasons and my son James was Born at Glenroyd Hospital in Blackpool in 1964.
Peter Blythe was a budding Medical Hypnotist... hypnotised me to have "painless Childbirth" (It didnt Work folks!) But he and his wife Maxine were good friends of ours...and I am afraid I pretended it did, so as not to upset them!
The queens Bars put on a very popular cabaret show...our best friends in those days were JIMMY & RITA Rose. Jimmy did a country and Western guitar vocal act...how I would love to know what happened to them after we lost touch when we moved on (as acts did in those days), and they bought a bungalow to settle in Cleveleys.

Does anyone remember any of these people or places?

Ah, The Queens Bar, I remember it well. Brian Rossi and the Wheels from Belfast took up resident and later Brian had his own show in the Cabaret bar, He played the drums and was surrounded with Teddy Bears & had a good strong voice, Tom Jones Green green grass was his favorite song.

I hear that there is a car Park and some residential properties on the site of the Queens Bars now. and that sadly Jimmy Rose had died just weeks before I posted my memory. Just a little sooner, and I would have found him.

One of the best times was going to the Derby Baths the finest and the biggest in Europe apart from the magnificent swimming pools they had the sauna's I used to go every Saturday with a friend of mine it had everything the steam rooms,hot rooms, jet bath swimming pool and you had a massage when you finished you then went back to your dressing room got dressed and in the same area was a café where we bought a coffee and biscuits then had half an hour on the bed resting it used to be great it would have made a fortune today but then the idiots of the council had it knocked it down as it wasn't viable it was their that I saw Johnny viesmuller if that how you spell it, it was Tarzan out of the films that was in the 40s and 50s brilliant days.
