More about this scene

The Junior School we see here was built in 1956, facing Cottingham Road, though the entrance is round the corner in Beanfield Avenue. This was a far-sighted, practical measure, for the traffic today is among the busiest in Corby, and the track in the foreground now goes through an underpass up to the periphery fence of the school. The church stands in the background, and a social centre/parish hall was opened between it and the school in 1968.

St Brendan's Church
Like many families, mine moved to Corby from Scotland in 1949. Our first home was in Stevenson's Way. We moved from Stevenson's Way to Chelveston Drive on The Lodge Park Estate in July 1952. I was 8, my little brother three and a half and my baby sister just two. I went to Our Lady of Walsingham School and had to walk as there were no buses. There was no Church either. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.
