A Memory of Cowplain.

We used to meet outside the old tram shed where Waitrose is now, Can anyone remember the company who owned it?

I lived in Gladys Avenue from 1945 - 1958. Mum was organist at the Baptist Church in Waterlooville. I became very close friends to the Palmer family who lived in the Idlewood estate at the end of Longwood avenue. Sadly, their home fell into complete disrepair since Elizabeth Palmer passed away in 1991, but the estate is now a conservation area for all to freely roam. I believe the 'Spotted Cow' is still a popular pub, I drove past it only last May. I have many happy memories of the village whilst I lived there.
I think that the place you are thinking about was Fodens who manufactured Lorries. The Pine Tree Stores was on the corner of Sylvester Road.
Yes Fodens built their lorries there but I believe they made or stored torpedos there during the ww2 i think.
