Fifty Years Since I Left Crewe

A Memory of Crewe.

On the 12th of June 1964, I emigrated to New Zealand and sailed aboard the Rangitoto, the voyage took 5 weeks, and called at Curacao, Panama and the beautiful island of Tahiti before arriving in Wellington on the 15th of July
I have been back to England and spent time Crewe about 10 times over the last 50 years, it has changed a lot during those years, the last time I stayed in The Crewe arm's hotel, the service and the meals were perfect.

I have attached a newspaper cutting, and a picture of myself with another passenger both wearing a grass skirt, that we had bought when we went ashore in Tahiti, how I wish I could do it all again it was magic.

Hallo Jacquie

I also lived in Crewe in 1964. I was 5 at the time and attended Bedford Street infants school. My sister had a best friend called Chrissie Atkinson who also emigrated, I think to Australia. You?
No I am not Chrissie, my Maiden name was Jacqueline Pickup, I lived at 331 Hungerford Road, I was a pupil at Brierley St Secondary School, Miss Cook was the Head Mistress, and there was also a wonderful Music/ English teacher Miss Farrell, I loved school..
