My Dad

A Memory of Cwm.

My wonderful dad passed away last October. He was born in Cwm in 1934 and left aound 1955 when he moved to Corby, Northants. he was so very proud of his welsh roots and was over the moon when we took him back to Cwm a couple of years ago and he visited all the places that meant so much to him: the church my parents were married at, Marine Street where he was born and the cemetery (one of the prettiest I have ever been to ) to visit the graves of his parents and grandparents. His name was Clifford Walters, his mum re married after his father died to Gaff Weeks and he had two sisters Eileen and Kathleen. I would love to hear from anyone that knew them or has any pictures of the family. I spent some childhood holidays in Cwm with my great aunt and uncle, Else and Billy Wicks, happy memories.

it is very sad that I saw on utube pictures of my village in the valleys with the story that Cwm was on the list as the most poor
and under privileged place in wales / and the whole of uk .
my mam and her brother lye in the cemetery there , and who will look after them and indeed the whole of Cwm if the place goes totally under one day. I now live in Australia and time is on my heels, I hope and pray that some one saves the town before it is all to late !!!!!!
it is so sad that the village is so run down but it really is still full of true welsh spirit and your mam and brother are in one of the most beautiful cemetery's I have seen. we try to go to the cemetery every couple of years (we live in Lincolnshire) to take some flowers to my grandparents and great grandmother.
