Trying To Remember The Road I Lived On

A Memory of Heston.

Am trying to piece together my life while in England. I was sent to some kind of institution when I was a few months old, probably in 1945/46. I believe that place was in the North of England. Then my mother picked me up and took me to Southall, and what I'm trying to remember is the name of the street in Southall that I spent my next year or so before being put into childrens homes in Brentford. I think the name of the street in Southall was Buckingham Terrace or Buckinghamshire Terrace ?? There was a canal behind the row of houses, and a Quaker Oats factory could be seen from the front of the row of houses. If anybody could tell me the name of that street, I'd appreciate it. There was a lock just along the road from these houses in which I had my first experience of almost drowning. I also remember the canal being dry one time, and lots of dead fish, or maybe that was just my imagination. I remember gas mantles and paraffin heaters and tin baths and outdoor toilets. Any info would be appreciated.
