Summer 1960

A Memory of Hounslow.

Does anybody out there remember the infamous gang murder near Inwood Park? I don't know about you, but it brought the Hounslow we all knew to an end. No more Joachims coffee bar, no more Ricki Tik Club, Hounslow became a ghost town!
I think we all grew up a little bit when it happened.
Driving through Hounslow today, I can't believe it was my home town. It was a fun time in those days.
Hounslow high street on a Saturday morning, Rainbows fish and chips, Rossis ice cream, Memorydisc, the Regal and Granada cinemas - WHERE'D IT ALL GO!!!

Remember the murder at the bottom of the bridge stairs. Can'remember the names but sure they were caught and hanged. Remember all those shops, regular at memory discs listening to records in booths. So changed now.
Just searched and found the names of Forsyth and Harris who were hanged for this murder on nov 10th 1960.
I remember the murder and also remember Joachims Coffee bar. It was the place to go. I also remember the last guy to be hanged. It was connected to the murder. I think I was about 14/15 at the time.
June Warne
Forsyth who was hanged was known as Flossie. There had been a fight and he kicked a lad in the head, "winckle pickers" were the fashion then, they were quite pointed, I believe the lad died next day and Flossie was charged with murder, I believe two others got "Queens pleasure" and two got "life".
no it wasnt a fight Forsyth, Harris, and Lobby Lutt, pounced on him to rob him , Harris ad Forsyth both hung and Lutt served at her majesties pleasure, (i think he was probably freed at some time) because he was too young to hang
the victims name was Alan Jee
there was also an awful case (I think divorce) when one (male) party was accused of what was
then unmentionable, being involved with another man. It was in all the papers and the children
were sent to live with relatives a long way away.
to all above..i lived tother side of inwood park could see the alleyway where it happened ..the poor chap that was attacked was very quiet and would not say boo to a goose...everything changed from that day on
