Happy Days

A Memory of Maesycwmmer.

My uncle & aunty (Ivor & Edna Cannan) lived in Maesy and as a school boy I spent many a happy holiday staying at 32 Pleasent View, which became Park Road. Most of the days were spent over the farm opposite playing with the farmer's son (Bruce) and my cousins (Gerald & Roy). It was in the late 50's when summer seemed to go on forever.
I was always included in the trip to Barry or Porthcawl with the chapel with the family.
I still visit Masey to see my cousin, Roy and he and his wife who are carrying on the family tradition of making the boys from Essex very welcome.
My Uncle & Aunty were very special to myself and my brothers and we always found a bed and a meal on our many trips to Wales. Even today Maes y Cwmmer hold a special place in my heart.

Comments & Feedback

32 Pleasant View is now the home of Phiip Edwards and his partner Jenna Meredith , they have two beautiful daughters " Elsie and Rosie . would love to hear more stories about the house and surrounding area .
My great-grandad George Walter Phillips was the headmaster at Maesycwmmer Elementary school around the 1920s-1940s (we are unsure of the exact dates). He lived there with my grandad Dennis George Phillips, my great-uncle Haydn Walter Phillips, and his wife (my great-grandma) Lilian Maud Phillips (Thomas).

I would love to hear from anyone who might have known them or attended the Elementary school at this time. I've been on an Ancestry dive whilst I've been ill the past couple of years :)
