Childhood Memories
A Memory of Nantyffyllon.
I was born in Nanty in 1947, I lived on High Street. My dad was Tom Bevan and I went to Nanty Infants School. I remember as a child playing down by the river with my friends and my mam shouting at me because I was getting dirty and wet. My dad was a miner and worked in Cwmdu Collery. When it was the miner's holidays we used to go on day trips to Porthcawl and Barry. I remember going on picnics up the mountain, with my mam and Myra, who lived next door to us on High Street. I go back to wales several times a year and often drive through Nanty and remember how great it was there as a child growing up
